Waterside Camper Shaped Polystone Birdhouse

Welcome feathered friends to your yard with this Waterside Camper bird house! It will provide birds with much-needed shelter from predators and inclement weather, as well as a place to build a nest and raise babies. Crafted from polystone and hanging from jute rope, the shelter should be placed 5 to 30 feet above the ground in a sunny, open space with shrubs or brush about 6 feet away for protective cover.

Consider mounting the habitat to a free-standing metal pole, PVC pipe, side of a house, or fence rail instead of a tree. Position the house so it is not too far from food sources. Installing habitats on a tree could give predators like cats and squirrels easy access, so be aware and keep cats indoors.

Place no more than two houses per species per acre of property. Once breeding season is over, usually by mid-August, it's time to clean out the bird house. Remove old nesting material and scrub the house with a solution of 1 part bleach to 10 parts water. Rinse well and leave it open to dry completely. If you notice birds are having multiple broods per year, clean the box between broods. Small bird species that may use the house: Chickadees, Nuthatches, Purple martins, Titmice and Wrens.
